OneBeat Kenya Creative Residency 2025 (Fully-funded) Deadline: 11 February, 2025
Applications are open for the OneBeat Kenya Creative Residency 2025. OneBeat Kenya, a dynamic two-and-a-half-week creative residency, will bring together 12 trailblazing artist leaders from across East Africa and the United States. This residency is designed for collaboration, growth, and innovation. Ten artists from East Africa and two artists from the United States, spanning genres and musical communities, will unite to explore new musical horizons and sharpen their professional and entrepreneurial skills.
Set in the inspiring Distant Relatives Ecolodge in the town of Kilifi, just a short drive from Mombasa, OneBeat Kenya will immerse participants in a thriving music scene, rich in culture and energy. This residency offers an intensive program full of creative workshops, discussions, and hands-on exercises, along with master classes, music recording sessions, and filmmaking projects. OneBeat Kenya Fellows will also take part in meaningful engagements with the local community, forging lasting connections. OneBeat Kenya is more than just a residency; it’s an exhilarating journey of collaboration and creativity, set to ignite new possibilities and inspire future collaborations across continents.
Costs
- All costs will be covered for OneBeat Fellows, including travel and accommodations. Fellows will also receive a per diem and a modest honorarium.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be 19 or older by the time of the program (August 20, 2025) and 35 or younger at the end of the program (September 8, 2025).
- Be both a resident and citizen of Kenya or the USA.
- OneBeat Fellows must apply individually and will be selected as individuals. However, several members of a group are welcome to apply separately.
- OneBeat is only open to musicians, although they do encourage musicians to apply who also work in other fields.
- Musicians from any genre or background are encouraged to apply. They are looking for musicians who have achieved an advanced proficiency in styles and skills such as (but not limited to): folk music, hip hop, electronic music, traditional music, jazz, experimental, classical, sound-art installations, DJing, audio engineering, etc.

Applications are due by February 11, 2025 5:00 PM EST. Applicants will be notified of the review panel decision by May 1, 2025. OneBeat 2025 will take place August 20, 2025 – September 8, 2025.
