Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies (OCIS) Scholarships 2026, Fully Funded at the University of Oxford

The Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies (OCIS) Scholarships 2026 are prestigious awards established to support outstanding graduates pursuing studies that benefit the Muslim world. Administered by the University of Oxford, these scholarships aim to strengthen academic connections between the Western and Islamic worlds through advanced study and research.

The OCIS serves as a hub for multidisciplinary engagement with the Islamic world, fostering intellectual dialogue and collaboration at both national and international levels.

Scholarship Coverage

Successful applicants will receive:

  • Full tuition fee coverage for the duration of the course.

  • A living cost grant of at least £20,780 per academic year.

  • Funding duration: Awards are granted for the full length of your fee liability.

These scholarships may be offered in conjunction with other sources of funding, although this will be taken into account when determining the total award amount.

Scholarship Outcome:
Applicants will be notified by June 2026. Due to the high volume of applications, individual feedback will not be provided.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies (OCIS) Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Apply for a new full-time Master’s or DPhil program at the University of Oxford.

  • Be either:

    • Ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom and from a Muslim community (preference given to those from financially disadvantaged backgrounds), or

    • national and resident of one of the following countries:
      Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Benin, Brunei Darussalam, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Comoros, Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Egypt, Gabon, Gambia, Guinea, Guyana, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Malaysia, Maldives, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Suriname, Syria, Tajikistan, Togo, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Yemen.

  • Intend to return to your country of residence after completing the course.

  • Demonstrate academic excellence and financial need.

  • Be pursuing a field of study that is derived from or relevant to the Islamic tradition, or that contributes to the development of the Muslim world.

Application Process

Follow these steps to apply for the OCIS Scholarship 2026:

  1. Select the OCIS Scholarship option in the University of Oxford Scholarships section of your graduate application form.

  2. Submit your graduate application for a full-time Master’s or DPhil program by the relevant December or January deadline (check your course page for details).

  3. Upload the OCIS Supporting Statement (available under related documents) with your graduate application before the deadline.

Applications will be assessed using information provided in your graduate form, including nationality and residency details. To ensure eligibility, review the ‘Nationality and Ordinary Residence’ section in the Oxford Graduate Application Guide.

Only applicants who receive a course offer through the December/January round will be considered for the scholarship. Applications carried over to the March deadline or placed on a waiting list are not eligible.
