Applications are open for Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Idaho. The Martin Institute and Program in International Studies and the Idaho Society of Fellows are now accepting applications for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in Area Studies to begin July 1, 2021.

Fellows will pursue their own research and teach one course per semester. The unit is particularly interested in recruiting candidates (1) with expertise in contemporary Europe or the Americas, (2) peacebuilding, and (3) whose work complements existing unit initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching: Teaching one undergraduate course per semester; work with the mentoring and advising of undergraduate students.
  • Research: Engage in scholarly activity related to long-term research programs and work in an interdisciplinary/collaborative environments.
  • Service & Outreach: Participation in the academic life of the Society of Fellows; public presentation to the Renfrew Interdisciplinary Colloquium; participation in the Human Communities Research Consortium.
  • Teamwork: Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Candidates for this Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Idaho must have the following qualifications

  • The regional focus also includes familiarity with peacebuilding processes (specialization open).
  • Ph.D. in an appropriate field required by the start of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching and mentoring students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Experience and commitment to working with people holding similar or different world views while advocating for the inclusion of all people.
  • Fluency in German or Spanish.
