About Kivu Choice:

Kivu Choice is the sister company to Victory Farms, the largest fish farm in East Africa, based in Kenya. We launched our Rwandan business in Q4 of 2021 and will have all standing functions up and running this year across Hatchery, Production, Processing, Distribution, and Sales. Over the next 5 years our plan is to scale to become the largest and most sustainable protein producer in the country, producing and distributing over 50 million fish meals per year across Rwanda, DRC, and Burundi.

Description:

Kivu Choice is looking for an aspiring Procurement Manager to join our team and play an integral role in building the country’s premier aquaculture business. Should you be chosen, you will work side by side with our CEO as we build out the operational and administrative infrastructure to scale our multiple farms and commercial sites across Rwanda.

What we’re looking for:

  • The successful candidate is likely to have a background in procurement, preferably in the agriculture or construction sector, with at least a B.Sc. level of education
  • Ability to thrive while working collaboratively with colleagues, identifying, and solving problems independently in a fast-paced environment
  • A successful candidate will possess a strong work ethic, ability to work in teams, intellectual curiosity, and ability to structure and solve problems
  • Fluent in English and Kinyarwanda

Duties:

  • Identify and negotiate with suppliers across Kigali to support our country – wide construction and operational requirements and analyze negotiated quotations through submission of Kivu Choice Standard quote comparison template
  • Raise purchase orders to respective suppliers based on department requirements and follow up with finance team to ensure payments are executed
  • Represent the interest of the company in all supplier negotiations, ensure the company gets best deals that project the best value for money, setup, and manage supplier contracts
  • In charge of international procurement importation and exportation of goods, clearance of consignments and logistic coordination
  • Work with government to ensure timely delivery of permits, certificates and licenses
  • Develop and master systems to procure material and equipment in a fashion that ensures project success
  • Achieve an efficient and quick delivery/procurement speed, working within bill of quantities constraints and project timelines to deliver optimal outcomes; develop supplier relationships, negotiate pricing and payment terms
  • Interface with the finance department to track utilization, project cost allocation, and purchase forecasting; and providing insights for the management team on sourcing strategies.
  • Partner with suppliers and inventory planners and ensure accurate movement of all international goods and ensure arrival of goods within required time frame and always obtain best freight / shipping rates at all times
  • Design, evaluate and renew all contracts as per requirement and monitor and prepare reports for all import activities and recommend changes if required
