Job Description
About the position
Research Associate will support in several citizen-science and data science projects to advance research on participatory technology selection and improve understanding of diets in Rwanda.
Main duties and responsibilities include:
- Lead activities in identifying mechanisms for streamlining crowdsourcing of data across different platforms and with different stakeholders.
- Document research protocols and coordinate with partners to collate feedback and iteratively improve documentation and support in capacity development.
- Coordinate setting up of field trials, conducting surveys, and implementing citizen-science approaches.
- Collaborate with IITA staff and partners in project implementation and timely delivery of project deliverables and reporting.
- Liaise with project staff and partners to ensure timely activity implementation, reporting, and support in data analysis.
- Communicate project outputs through presentations, seminars, and social media.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in agronomy, agricultural sciences, or related field and demonstrated experience of at least 2 years.
- Experience with project implementation and supporting research activities
- Background in field trial implementation, data collection activities, and basic data
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda are required.
- Experience working in an international context interacting with multi-disciplinary stakeholders is desirable.
- Knowledge of R/Python or other statistical programming is desirable
