Rest of World’s Labor x Tech Reporting Program for Journalists is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for reporters from regions outside the Western world who are eager to create in-depth reports on the influence of technology on labor and workers globally. With support from the Ford Foundation, Rest of World is initiating the second phase of its Labor x Tech reporting initiative, aimed at enhancing our comprehension of how emerging technologies and tech companies are transforming the concept of labor.
Requirements – Rest of World’s Labor x Tech Reporting Program for Journalists
Rest of World seeks to recruit 12 reporters from various countries to develop a series of articles exploring the intersection of technology and labor over a 12-month period. These reporters will join Rest of World’s Labor x Tech Contributor Network, which aims to involve international journalists who possess a foundational understanding of their local technology and business environments. Contributors will collaborate closely with the Labor x Tech editor to produce consistent reporting and engage in broader cross-regional projects, workshops, and training sessions. While we welcome journalists from all over the globe, we have a particular interest in contributors from Indonesia, the Philippines, Bangladesh, UAE, Turkey, Egypt, Kenya, South Africa, Colombia, and Brazil.
Benefits – Rest of World’s Labor x Tech Reporting Program for Journalists
Contributors are expected to publish four articles throughout the year, spanning from November 1, 2024, to October 31, 2025, and will receive a total compensation of $5,000 for these four pieces. Rest of World will also cover all expenses related to the reporting, including travel costs.
