About RMIT University
RMIT University (officially Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, informally RMIT) is an Australian public research university based in Melbourne, Victoria. Founded in 1887 as the Working Men’s College of Melbourne by Francis Ormond, it initially opened as a private night school offering instruction in art, science and technology in response to the industrial revolution in Australia. It was made a public university by act of the Parliament of Victoria in 1992 after merging with the Phillip Institute of Technology. A dual sector institute, its enrolment of 320 trades students in 1887

Aim and Benefits of Academic Excellence Scholarships
The total value of the scholarship is AU$10,000, one-off payment towards future tuition fee to be paid after the first census date.
Requirements for Academic Excellence Scholarships Qualification
In order to qualify for this scholarship, you must:
- be a citizen of Latin America countries
- applying from Latin America countries
- be an international student holding a valid student visa or plan to apply for a student visa prior to the program commencement
- not be an existing RMIT University student
- enrol for Semester 1 or 2, 2023 in any Vocational Education, Associate degree, Bachelor’s degree, Graduate Diploma or Masters by Coursework programs offered by:
- Accounting, Information Systems and Supply Chain
- Art
- Economics, Finance and Marketing
- Management
- Property, Construction and Project Management
- Architecture and Urban Design
- Business and Law
- Design
- Education
- Fashion and textiles
- Global, Urban and Social Studies
- Media and Communication
- achieve an overall 70% average or equivalent in your last completed qualification
- provide either a personal statement (approx. 200 words) or a 60-90 seconds video. Please introduce yourself, explain why you think you deserve the scholarship and tell us why you would be the perfect RMIT Ambassador.
