Scholarship Benefits

- Monthly stipend: for non‑Doctoral (Bachelor’s, Master’s, one‑tier, non‑degree) programmes approx HUF 43,700/month (~EUR 100‑110) for 12 months per year.
- For Doctoral level: first phase (4 semesters) HUF 140,000/month; second phase (4 semesters) HUF 180,000/month.
- Accommodation contribution: free dormitory or HUF 40,000/month if renting.
- Medical / health insurance: included, plus supplementary medical insurance up to HUF 65,000/year.
Requirements for Stipendium Hungarian Scholarship
- Be a national of a Sending Partner country (i.e. a country that has a bilateral educational cooperation agreement with Hungary).
- Meet the academic requirements of the chosen study programme; usually requires having previous degree (for Master’s/Doctoral), proof of studies, transcripts.
- Language proficiency: depending on the study programme language (English, Hungarian or other as specified). If previous degree was in the same language may have some flexibility.
- Applicants must be nominated by the Sending Partner authority in their home country.
- For self‑financed students in Hungary applying for the same level, additional requirements: recommendation by the Hungarian host institution and their academic average must exceed certain benchmarks.
- Must submit required documentation; in some cases, for Doctoral programmes, a statement of supervisor may be required.
- Comply with Operational Regulations: e.g. credit minimums (for some scholarship holders), compulsory courses like Hungarian as a foreign language / culture (for those starting after fall semester 2020), etc.
How to apply for Stipendium Hungarian Scholarship
- Check that your country is a Sending Partner and that your desired study programme is eligible.
- Read the relevant Call for Applications and its Annexes carefully, including the details for your study level (Bachelor, Master, Doctoral, or non‑degree).
- Gather required documents: academic transcripts/certificates, proof of language proficiency, identity documents, possibly supervisor statement (for Doctoral), etc.
- Use the online application system (DreamApply) to register, fill in all required data, select your study programme(s) (you may choose two programmes in order of preference when required) and upload documents.
- Submit the application before the deadline. For 2026/2027 year the deadline is 15 January 2026, 2 p.m. CET.
- After submission: the application is checked for formal requirements, then the Sending Partner nominates candidates; then admission or entrance exams may be required by host institutions.
- If selected, accept the scholarship, upload any outstanding required documents, complete residence permit / visa procedures, and prepare for arrival.
