Job Summary:

The Storekeeper will be responsible for managing and maintaining the inventory of materials, tools, and equipment at the construction site. This includes ensuring proper storage, accurate record-keeping, timely issuance of materials, and coordinating with procurement and site teams. The role plays a key part in ensuring smooth project operations by maintaining efficient stock control and compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Inventory Management:
  • Receive, inspect, and record incoming materials, tools, and equipment to ensure they match purchase orders and specifications.
  • Maintain an organized and secure storage area, ensuring items are stored safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct regular stock checks and maintain accurate inventory records.
  1. Material Issuance and Tracking:
  • Issue materials and tools to site personnel as per requisitions, ensuring accurate documentation of all transactions.
  • Monitor and track material usage to avoid wastage and shortages.
  1. Coordination and Communication:
  • Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely delivery of required materials.
  • Liaise with site teams to understand material needs and update them on stock availability.
  1. Reporting and Documentation:
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory and stock reports.
  • Maintain proper documentation for all material movements, including receipts, issues, and returns.
  1. Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure materials and tools are stored in compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Identify and report any damaged or defective items to the Site Manager promptly.

Other Duties:

  • Assist in managing site logistics related to materials and equipment.
  • Support the Site Manager in tasks related to inventory and material management as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (essential); a diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience as a storekeeper, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and MS Office (Excel, Word).
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of construction materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Understanding of safety standards and procedures for material storage.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physical fitness to handle lifting and moving of materials when necessary.
