Study in China : Master’s and PhD Scholarships from Yenching Academy of Peking University for International Students, Deadline December 06, 2019
The Yenching Academy annually enrolls approximately 125 new students from both the Chinese Mainland and abroad, to study, live, and learn together. International students comprise roughly 80% of the student body.
Applicants should have:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in any field, awarded no later than August 31, 2020;
- An outstanding academic record;
- Strong interest in interdisciplinary study of China;
- A record of extracurricular achievement, community engagement, social responsibility, and Leadership potential;
- English proficiency.
Materials
Candidates may apply through Yenching Academy’s online application portal. Each applicant will create an account on the Yenching Academy admissions portal and submit the following materials in English:
- Completed online application form;
- Personal statement (750 words or less);
- Curriculum Vitae;
- Official transcript(s);
- Diploma(s) or Certificate(s) of Enrollment;
- Two letters of recommendation;
- English requirements and minimum scores:
○ IELTS (Academic): Overall 7.0
○ TOEFL (iBT): Overall 100
○ Cambridge English Scale (Advanced): Overall 185
○ CEFR: C1 level
○ CET 6: Overall 600
○ TEM 4: Pass level of “良好” or above
* Native English speakers and students or alumni of primarily English taught degree programs are not required to provide English proficiency test scores.
* Submission of English scores: For IELTS, TOEFL, and Cambridge tests, we will only accept scores sent directly to us from these organizations. Make sure you choose “Yenching Academy of Peking University” as the designated recipient of your scores when you book the exam time. For TOEFL, use the institution code: C488.

2020 cohort recruitment for the Mainland Chinese candidates who were qualified to exempt from the National Postgraduate Entrance Examination is currently ongoing.
This year, we will start accepting the National Postgraduate Entrance Examination scores for the 2020 cohort Mainland Chinese recruitment. Please refer to the Graduate School of Peking University for more information.

We are currently accepting applications for the 2020 cohort of Yenching Scholars.
Application deadline: December 06, 2019 (12:00 noon Beijing time).
All students and alumni of Partner Universities must apply through both the university’s internal application process and the Yenching Academy admissions portal.
Candidates from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan must also complete a supplementary application through the Peking University Graduate Admissions website. More information is available here.

Peking University has a new regulation pertaining to applicants from the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan who have previously changed their citizenship and intend to apply as an international student. Former citizens of the P.R.C., Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan must have switched their citizenship for at least six years before being eligible to apply as an international student. Such applicants will need to provide a non-PRC, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan passport that became valid before November 30, 2013. They will also need to provide proof of their renunciation of Chinese citizenship.
