Tender Title: Supply of Kits to support VILLAGE KITCHENS

Tender number: IA/001/2021

International Alert is a 30-year-old independent and international peacebuilding organization with headquarters in London and works with people who are directly affected by violent conflict to improve their living.  We have been operating in Rwanda since 1996, strengthening reconciliation, reintegration, and conflict management among people affected by conflicts and genocide against the Tutsi.

Through the EU fund Imbaraga and International Alert are co-implementing a three-year project (2018-2020) entitled “Ijwi ry’Abahinzi n’Aborozi in seven districts of Burera, Rulindo, Gatsibo, Kayonza, Rubavu, Rutsiro and Ruhango, located in four provinces of Rwanda.

The Farmers Voice Project “Ijwi ry’Abahinzi n’Aborozi” aims to facilitate a more participatory and inclusive approach to agricultural policy development by strengthening the participatory research and advocacy capacities of existing civil society bodies working on food security (including farmer cooperatives, value chain associations, and agricultural based organizations) and creating District Farmers Network (DFN) that offer a space for farmers to not only voice their concerns but also jointly seek solutions to problems related to food security, agricultural productivity and proper coordination and collaboration among all key actors.

Following consultation with districts through the participatory action research on food security, the need to reach village kitchens across seven districts was raised to enhance education against child malnutrition by engaging partner CSOs with expertise in carrying out child nutrition education. Further, the project engages the existing parents or papa and mama lumière or model parents who lead 951 village kitchens and village level early childhood development interventions through nutrition and food security education. This tremendous reach contributed to reach more 750 households and nearly 250 male farmers across seven districts targeted by the FVP.

  • Needs

Despite such positive strides, the project found that villages kitchen together with Home based ECD lack essential Kits to strengthen children nutritional status.

The project needs to support Village Kitchen and Home based ECD in 7 districts.

International Alert therefore invites qualified bidders to submit bids for the supply for the following items:
