The V20 Climate Prosperity Fellowship Program 2025-2026 Opens Applications for Its 3rd Cohort of Fellows!

Calling all officials of Ministries of Finance, Economy, and Planning of V20 member countries interested in joining the growing community of fellows advancing ambitious climate actions for climate-threatened nations. Participants will be provided with capacity acceleration programs on international financial architecture reform discussions and policy negotiation skills, which are critical in developing Climate Prosperity Plans and creating fit-for-climate financial systems.

About the Climate Fellowship

The Climate Prosperity Fellowship Program was launched by the V20 Finance Ministers, in partnership with Boston University Global Development Policy Center, at the sidelines of the 2023 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in Marrakech, Morocco.

This initiative is part of the organization’s ongoing efforts to mobilize international support and drive ambitious climate action for climate-threatened nations. It aims to accelerate their capacities in pioneering climate-resilient solutions and mobilizing domestic resources vital in the development and implementation of their country’s Climate Prosperity Plan (CPP). The program includes discussions on international financial architecture reform and policy negotiation skills, which are critical in addressing CPP implementation challenges and creating fit-for-climate financial systems.

Eligibility

Officials of Ministries of Finance, Economy, and Planning of V20 member countries who meet the the following requirements:

  • Citizen of a V20 member country.
  • Mid to senior-level experience (five to 10 years experience) in international affairs, public policy development, and climate/environmental/sustainable development.
  • Fundamental understanding of macroeconomic concepts.
  • Interest in undertaking intensive training in debt sustainability analyses.
  • Familiarity in using Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency in English.

Expectations from the Fellows

Officials of Ministries of Finance, Economy, and Planning of V20 member countries who meet the following requirements:

  • Diligence in attending weekly virtual sessions and complying with assignments.
  • Availability to travel abroad for in-person training sessions organized throughout the fellowship period.
  • Determination to work and share information with their national government and national stakeholders after completing the fellowship.

Selection Process

16 to 20 Fellows will be selected from the pool of applications.

  • 15 August 2025: Deadline of Applications
  • 1-5 September 2025: Panel Interviews
  • 12 September 2025: Announcement of Fellows
  • 1 October 2025: Deadline of Submissions of Endorsement Letter from the Ministry of Finance, Economy, and/or Planning
  • 6 October 2025: Orientation of Fellows

Key Activities

The curriculum will be implemented via virtual classes and in-person residencies organized throughout the fellowship period. All schedules will be coordinated with fellows.
