With great pleasure, the Reporters’ Collective (TRC) announces the creation of the first-ever “TRC Investigative Reporting Fellowship.” This is a chance to create excellent English-language investigative work that will be published by The Collective and made available for local newsrooms to co-publish.
Candidates with at least two years of reporting experience will be given the inaugural fellowship to work on the ambitious investigative project they have proposed. Funding for this fellowship comes from citizens who support TRC work.

Benefits:
- For the story, the selected candidate will receive a grant of Rs. 80,000 (taxes included). This does not include the cost of reporting-related travel. 20% of the grant will be paid out right away upon approval, 40% after the draft is turned in, and the remaining funds will be released when the story is published. Travel expenses and other costs related to reporting will be reimbursed when the bills are submitted and the final payment is received.
Who Can Apply?
- Independent reporters with a minimum of two years’ worth of experience in the industry.
- Journalists who have a large-scale investigative story idea that will take time and money to complete.
- The suggested story should have advanced past the preliminary reporting phase and be supported by documentation to persuade their editors to approve the project.
