The Network Coordinators (NC) is the representative of SDSN Youth within their Regional/ National SDSN Network. The NC is a key position in understanding the state of youth mobilization towards the SDGs in their given region – acting as the key local point of contact for anything youth and SDG related in their region/country.
The Deputy Network Coordinator is a crucial support role within the SDSN Youth network, serving as a vital backup to the Network Coordinator. Their primary responsibility is to assist the Network Coordinator in their daily operations, providing administrative support, and helping to manage the network’s activities and stakeholders.
The Deputy Network Coordinator is also expected to fill in for the Network Coordinator in the event of their absence or departure, ensuring a seamless continuity of operations and minimizing disruptions to the network. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively with the Network Coordinator and other team members.
Responsibilities
- Assist the NC on program management
- Oversee the development and implementation of Youth Program activities in the network and their specific country.
- Assist in developing a work plan and following up regularly to ensure that activities are on track.
- Contribute to building on collaborations to identify appropriate opportunities for implementation of the Youth Program.
- Assisting on running daily operations of the network;
- Contributing to ensuring meaningful members and stakeholder engagement;
- Ensure the monitoring and reporting of the activities and initiatives occurring in the youth network;
- Assist in managing a list of stakeholders and their needs, challenges, skills, and expertise
- Admin and Governance
- Assist your network’s communication channels: email, social media, mailing lists, etc.
- Researching, documenting, and maintaining the contributions of SDSN Youth in the network.
- Communicate effectively with the NC, and maintain the double- reporting line to the Network Managers and SDSN Youth;
- Act as the focal point when NC is not available.
Note: As a virtual network, it is IMPORTANT for Network Coordinators and Deputy Network Coordinators to communicate effectively within the network. In this vein, they will be expected to:
- Attend the monthly call with the Regional Focal Point, quarterly call with the Global Coordinators, and any other relevant calls with any other team members;
- Communicate effectively the networks and its members’ activities through a double-reporting line to the Network Managers and SDSN Youth.

Eligibility
The Deputy Network Coordinator will be someone who:
- Enjoys problem-solving and works well with people;
- Is able to work autonomously;
- Able to communicate effectively;
- Is able to manage multiple streams of work.
Minimum qualifications:
- MUST be based in one of the following countries: Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Brunei, Laos, Myanmar, or Timor Leste
- MUST be based in the respective country/region for at least 12 months after the application date;
- MUST be a student or placed at a member organization/ host institution as listed here;
- MUST possess an excellent command of the English language (official working language at SDSN Youth), including writing, speaking, and listening.
- MUST demonstrate the time and resources to commit to this role – candidates with too many overlapping commitments will be exempt from running for this position
- MUST have a great interest in sustainable development, and is passionate about the mission of SDSN and SDSN Youth, including the pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement on climate change;
- Has previous experience or a strong interest in student/youth leadership;
- Has had some knowledge or form of either professional or volunteer work experience, particularly with campaigning, community mobilization, project coordination, event management or stakeholder engagement.
