- Mid-level professionals and government officials are eligible to apply. They should be engaged in ocean affairs and the law of the sea, particularly in implementing UNCLOS and SDG-14.
- The proposed research and study plan of every applicant must clearly contribute and add to their nation’s implementation of ocean affairs and the law of the sea.
- Applicants must be free of all other responsibilities during the entire course of the Fellowship unless otherwise authorized.
- In addition, UN fellows will have to work on key deliverables. This includes a written 100-page thesis, a well-designed research presentation, and an ocean governance matrix. Several other assignments will be completed by all fellows during the entire duration of the Fellowship.
