Before the University of Bristol, there was University College, Bristol University College, Bristol existed from 1876 to 1909 and was the precursor to the University of Bristol. Aim and Benefits of University of Bristol Lady Ryder Medical Scholarships

Two five-year living cost awards of £7,500 per person, per year for Home students eligible for UK government student loans who either hold an offer to study on the MB ChB Medicine (A100) course in 2023/24 having been awarded a place following a successful interview, or are currently on year zero of the MB ChB Gateway to Medicine (A108).

This award is funded through the generosity of the Lady Ryder of Warsaw Memorial Trust.

Requirements for University of Bristol Lady Ryder Medical Scholarships Qualification

You can apply if you:

  • hold an offer to study on the MB ChB Medicine (A100) course in 2023/24 having been awarded a place following a successful interview, or are currently on year zero of the MB ChB Gateway to Medicine (A108);
  • are a Home/UK student;
  • are a resident in the United Kingdom;
  • have applied for or intend to apply for means-tested support from your regional funding provider (such as Student Finance England) and have consented to share your household income details with the University. (Note: you must apply for means-tested support to enable the University to get confirmation of your household income from the Student Loans Company. However, you are not required to take out any loans you are eligible to receive if you do not wish to take them);
  • are eligible for the financial support available from the UK government (in the form of the tuition fee and living costs loans from the Student Loans Company).
