The amount to be offered will be determined by the University Sports Scholarship Committee and each case is considered on its own merit.

Aim and Benefits of University of Kent Sports Scholarships Scheme

A University of Kent Sports Scholarship includes the following benefits:

  • Financial support of between £300 – £5,000 per year to support access to facilities, preparation and participation in sport
  • Access to the Kent Sport Clinic for sports physiotherapy and rehabilitation
  • Inclusive Kent Sport Membership at Canterbury or equivalent access at Medway
  • Weekly Coach-led Strength & Conditioning and exercise prescription App access
  • Termly Technique & Testing and Sports Scholarship Workshops
  • Scholarship Welcome, Celebration and Social Events
  • Sports Scholarship Ambassadorial opportunities
  • Access to local professional sports clubs and business partner initiatives
  • Exclusive Sports Scholarship training attire

University of Kent Sports Scholarships Scheme Courses

Requirements for University of Kent Sports Scholarships Scheme Qualification

  • Scholarships are available to outstanding student athletes from any sport who compete (at least) at county level or equivalent
  • Sports Scholars should be committed to representing the University of Kent in British University & College Sport (BUCS) competition and join their relevant student club
  • Sports Scholarships are open to new international and domestic undergraduate and postgraduate applicants, as well as current University of Kent students
  • We also have a bespoke offer for Kent and Medway Medical School students
  • Sports scholarships are not available to International students taking a foundation year
  • Please view the detailed FAQ section within the Sports Scholarship webpage for a breakdown of application criteria and expectations of the scheme

It is not necessary to wait for an offer of a place before submitting your application, however your application will be checked against a valid Kent Vision Applicant ID. Applicants should also note that the offer of a Sports Scholarship does not carry with it the offer of a place and all students are subject to the normal course tuition fees.
