The Université de Montréal introduces a new scholarship program for exemption from additional tuition fees for international students.

The goal of this new program is to help the best talent from around the world attend one of the finest francophone research universities in the world. In turn, these international students will help fulfil our educational mission by enriching the cultural diversity of the Université de Montréal community.

The UdeM exemption scholarship program is designed to support international candidates in their university studies. Starting in the fall of 2020, they could benefit from an exemption from the tuition fees normally charged to international students. The granting of scholarships continues for the winter 2023, summer 2023, fall 2023 and winter 2024 terms.

Also called UdeM, the University of Montreal is a non-private research institution of higher education in the Québec province of Canada. The University was founded in 1878 founded, with three faculties: theology, law and medicine. Earlier University of Montreal was situated in Montreal’s Quartier Latin but later in 1942, it moved to Mount Royal. It got the status of a secular establishment in the year 1967. The main campus of the university is set on Mount Royal, the campus comprises more than 65 hectares of greenery, roads and paths.

Aim and Benefits of University Of Montrea Undergraduate Scholarships

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS

The excellence of your academic record is the only evaluation criterion to determine the value of the scholarship. This assessment is made based on the transcripts provided during the admission application. The results of the analysis are classified into the following three levels.

  • Level A: $12,951.76 per year (2 sessions, equivalent to 30 credits) or $6,475.88 per session (15 credits) or $431.73 per credit
  • Level B: $6,172.60 per year (2 sessions, equivalent to 30 credits) or $3,086.30 per session (15 credits) or $205.75 per credit
  • Level C: $2,159.15 per year (2 sessions, equivalent to 30 credits) or $1,079.57 per session (15 credits) or $71.97 per credit

Students enrolled in a certificate, major, minor, short program and preparatory year program for university studies automatically obtain the level C award.

These amounts are applied to tuition fees of $25,567.80 per year (30 credits).

Requirements for University Of Montrea Undergraduate Scholarships Qualification

International students admitted as of Fall 2020:

  • Who hold a study permit and who are neither permanent residents nor Canadian citizens.
  • Who will be enrolled full-time in a study program throughout their studies.
  • Who will not benefit from another form of tuition fee exemption through another policy or measure. For example, French and Belgian Francophone students already benefit from this type of exemption.

Requirements for University Of Montrea Postgraduate Scholarships Qualification

The UdeM exemption scholarship is intended for international students (except French and French-speaking Belgian students). To be eligible, the candidate must:

  • Have received an offer of admission to a study program at UdeM as of Fall 2020
  • Have valid study authorizations (CAQ and study permit) for all sessions of their study program. For more information, please see the web page on immigration procedures
  • Be continuously enrolled full time (unless absence is approved) for their entire study program
  • Not benefit from another form of tuition fee exemption
  • Not enroll in an independent study program
  • Not be admitted to the following undergraduate programs starting with the Winter 2024 session: certificate, major, minor, short program and preparatory year program for university studies

If one of the above conditions is not met, the UdeM exemption scholarship may be withdrawn.

  • Before completing the application form, make sure you respect the application deadlines and check the admissions requirements for the study programs of your interest.
  • After submitting your application, you’ll be able to consult your application and receive your admission notice in your Centre étudiant.
  • You don’t have to apply for a UdeM Exemption Scholarship. New candidates’ files will be evaluated to determine their eligibility and the amount of their exemption scholarship.
  • After receiving your admissions offer, the Université de Montréal will promptly inform you, by email, of the amount of the scholarship to which you are entitled. Print and keep this document in a safe place. It will be useful for future reference.
