150 China Excellence Scholarships of £5,000 off tuition fees are available to new international postgraduate students from China applying for an in-person postgraduate master’s programme.
About University of Southampton
The University of Southampton is a research university in Southampton, England. The university’s origins date back to the founding of the Hartley Institution in 1862. In 1902, the Institution developed into the Hartley University College, awarding degrees from the University of London. The university has seven teaching campuses. The main campus is located in the Highfield area of Southampton and is supplemented by four other campuses within the city: Avenue Campus housing the Faculty of Humanities, the National Oceanography Centre housing courses rea.

The £5,000 is available as a tuition fee reduction on the first year of study.
Requirements for China Excellence Scholarship Qualification
To get this scholarship you must:?
- be a Chinese citizen whose residency is in China who would be eligible to pay the overseas tuition fee
- have a conditional or unconditional offer to study any in-person, full-time, postgraduate master’s programme
- achieve a first-class honours degree or an equivalent qualification in your undergraduate studies at a tier A or B university
- pay your tuition fee deposit by Thursday 15 January 2026
