UNSW 2021 PhD International Scholarships in Psychiatry (Australia)
A PhD project is available in the Schizophrenia Research Laboratory at Neuroscience Research Australia (NeuRA) in Sydney. The Schizophrenia Research Laboratory investigates molecular and cellular changes in the brain of people with schizophrenia and across normal human brain development. Our goal is to uncover underlying molecular mechanisms that may contribute to the development of schizophrenia, including inflammation, neurotransmitter systems, hormone receptors and growth factors. The successful PhD candidate will investigate how inflammation blunts neurogenesis in the adult brain using various different experimental approaches, such as RNA sequencing, qPCR, western blot, histology, and microscopy.

Aim and Benefits of UNSW International Scholarships in Psychiatry
The UNSW PhD Scholarship Scheme aims to attract the best and brightest people into strategic research areas and provide them with an enhanced culture of research excellence, mentoring, career development, leadership and community, with:
* $40,000 stipend per annum, for 4 years
* Fees covered to complete a PhD at UNSW
* Up to $10k per annum to support career development and international collaborations
Requirements for UNSW International Scholarships in Psychiatry Qualification
To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
- The applicants must have experience in histological techniques with knowledge of neuroanatomy, understanding of microscopy and/or working knowledge of molecular biology.
