Admission Requirements & Application Process

Postgraduate Programs

Eligibility for international applicants includes:

• Non-Chinese nationality with a valid passport (ic.ustc.edu.cn).
• Academic qualifications: Bachelor’s for master’s applicants and Master’s for PhD applicants (or a pre-graduation certificate)
• Age limit: Under 40 for master’s, 45 for PhD by September 1, 2025 (ic.ustc.edu.cn).
• Language requirement:
  • For Chinese-instructed programs: HSK 4 or above (or exemption proof)
  • For English-instructed programs: English language proficiency documentation required (ic.ustc.edu.cn).

Research Internships (Non-Degree)

• Open to 3rd/4th-year undergraduates and graduate students.
• Offers hands-on research under the mentorship of USTC professors in state-of-the-art labs (ic.ustc.edu.cn).

Scholarships & Financial Support

• USTC Fellowships: Offer tuition waivers, accommodation subsidy, medical insurance, and stipends—approx. USD 500/month (Master’s) and USD 1050/month (PhD) (NSTDA).
