Mokaraka Maori Women in Business Scholarship is to support young Maori women studying at Wellington School of Business and Government.

This Scholarship was established in 2024 and is funded by Melanie Smith. Melanie is Ngapuhi and lives in London working as a CEO. The main purpose of the Scholarship is to support young Maori women studying business at Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington.

Requirements for Victoria University of Wellington Mokaraka Maori Women in Business Scholarship Qualification

  • Applicants must be of M?ori descent.
  • Applicants must identify as female.
  • Applicants must be enrolled, or enrolling, full-time or part-time in an undergraduate or postgraduate programme at Wellington School of Business and Government in the year of application.
  • Grade point average (GPA) or grade point equivalent (GPE) of at least 6.00 is required for Scholarship consideration (see Note I).

Interview date, Process and Venue for Victoria University of Wellington Mokaraka Maori Women in Business Scholarship

  • Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit.
  • Selection will be made by the Victoria University Undergraduate Scholarship Committee, in consultation with the donor.

Documents Required for Application

Scholarship specific documentation:

  • Level 2 and Level 3 NCEA results, or the equivalent in another qualification (for school leavers).
  • Academic transcript (for returning students).
  • An endorsement of iwi association (to be requested via the online application).
