The Refugee Studies Centre (RSC) at the University of Oxford invites applications for its Visiting Fellowships programme. Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Eligible Candidates:
  • Senior academics, postdoctoral researchers, and specialists.
  • Independent or freelance non-academic researchers, practitioners, or policymakers.
  • Doctoral (PhD/DPhil) students researching forced migration.
• Nationality: Open to candidates from all countries.
• Educational Qualifications: PhD holders, postdoctoral researchers, or PhD students currently enrolled in a doctoral programme.
• Language Requirements: Fluency in English, meeting the University of Oxford’s language standards.
• Visa Requirements: Non-EEA applicants must ensure they hold an appropriate visa before arrival.

Programme Details

• Structure & Duration:
  • Visiting Fellowships last for one Oxford academic term (8 weeks), with the possibility of extension for up to two more terms for Research and Study Fellows.
  • Student Visitors are limited to one term.
• Types of Visiting Fellows:
  • Visiting Research Fellows: Senior academics and postdoctoral researchers pursuing independent research.
  • Visiting Study Fellows: Independent or freelance non-academic researchers, practitioners, or policymakers.
  • Student Visitors: PhD/DPhil students undertaking research for their dissertation.
• Fees: £1,700 per term.
• Funding: Limited funding may be available.
• Facilities Provided:
  • Access to Oxford’s libraries, seminars, language labs, and computer training courses.
  • Participation in RSC’s public seminar series and MSc Refugee and Forced Migration Studies core seminars.
  • Dedicated workspace with computers at Mansfield Road Department.
• Accommodation & Living Costs:
  • Fellows must arrange their own accommodation.
  • Estimated monthly expenses: £900 (including food and housing).
  • Average rent for a shared house in Oxford: £600-£700 per month.
