The Weatherhead Scholars Program at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University invites applications for its postdoctoral fellowships to join its annual cohort of 20-25 members, comprised of postdoctoral fellows, visiting scholars, and practitioner fellows.
These one-year fellowships aim to support postdoctoral scholars who have recently completed their PhD, and is intended to facilitate research in the social sciences on international, comparative, transnational, and global issues. This is a residential program; participants are expected to be on campus during the fellowship (late August to mid-May), and to partake in the weekly Weatherhead Scholars Seminar.
The Weatherhead Center for International Affairs accepts five to ten postdoctoral fellows each academic year (late August to mid-May) through the Weatherhead Scholars Program. There is funding available for some but not all of the candidates. For 2025-2026, they are pleased to announced the following funded one-year postdoctoral fellowship opportunities:
- The Raphael Morrison Dorman fellowship supports up to four postdoctoral fellows annually.
- The Hicham Alaoui Postdoctoral Fellowship to support research on the Middle East/North Africa region and/or climate change.
- Occasionally additional fellowship funding is available from the Weatherhead Center, which will be rolled into the normal selection process when applicable.
Benefits
- Funded postdoctoral fellows will receive a stipend of $70,000, payable over twelve months. Fellowships for the 2025-2026 academic year begin in August 2025. If an applicant has received external funding to support their postdoctoral activities, note this in the application cover letter.
