Field of activity
The Civil Peace Service ( ZFD ) is a program for preventing violence and promoting peace in crisis and conflict regions. ZFD specialists provide long-term support to local people in their commitment to dialogue, human rights and peace. As a regional program, GIZ ‘s ZFD program aims to promote peace skills and civil society networks in the Great Lakes region. The sought-after expert is to advise 16 partner organizations based in Rwanda, Burundi and Eastern Congo on questions of 1) internal organizational development and 2) sustainable capacity development. The overarching goal is to anchor the peace work of the ZFD regional program in the long term.
Your tasks
- Coordination of the “Capacity Development/Organizational Development” department of the ZFD program in coordination with the program coordination, the ZFD specialists and the partner organizations of the program
- Carrying out needs assessments with the partner organizations and planning annual training and coaching measures for all partner organizations of the program in close cooperation with the ZFD specialists
- Advice for partner organizations in specific processes, eg organizational diagnoses, development of vision and mission, strategy advice, strengthening or development of internal structures, development of process manuals
- If necessary, support of the program coordination and the specialists working at the program level in improving program processes
- Management of information and support for the monitoring of the program
- Implementation of cross-sectional tasks such as event and knowledge management
- Event management (content-conceptual) and network activities
- Writing articles, presentations and publications to implement the program
your profile
- University degree in organizational development, administrative science, political science, sociology or other relevant fields
- Several years of professional experience, preferably abroad, as a consultant in organizational development and the setting up of change or improvement processes in organizations
- Experience in organizing and facilitating workshops and training courses
- Practical experience in post-conflict situations and in cooperation with non-governmental organizations from the Global South. Practical experience in the field of peace and reconciliation is an advantage
- Ability to work in a team, social and intercultural competence / sensitivity
- Organizational skills and flexibility
- A high degree of willingness to travel for assignments in the partner organizations in all intervention countries of the program (Rwanda, Burundi, DR Congo)
- Business fluent knowledge of English and French; Knowledge of German is an advantage

Job description

- Event management (conceptual content) and networking activities
- Writing papers, presentations, and publications on the implementation of the programme
Your profile
- University degree in organisational development, administrative sciences, political sciences, sociology, or other relevant fields
- At least 3 years of professional experience as an advisor in organisational development and the implementation of change or improvement processes in organisations
- Experience in organising and facilitating workshops and trainings
- Practical experience in post-conflict situations and in working with non-governmental organisations from the Global South. Practical experience in the field of peace and reconciliation is an advantage.
