Environmental Inspection Officer AT RWANDA ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY : ( Deadline : 30 October 2019 )
1. Develop environmental inspection procedures & checklists: • Assist in the development & modification of environmental inspection procedures & checklists;
• Perform & document regular environmental inspections in accordance with inspection plans, procedures & checklists;
• Take records & document environmental inspections findings/data in accordance with performed inspection plans, procedures & checklists;
• Participate in identification of potential sources of environmental pollution and degradation;
• Support the formulation of safeguards and guidelines for prevention of environmental pollution and degradation.
2. Investigate environmental harms/pollution from point sources, nonpoint sources, or regulated facilities: • Conduct field follow
– up of compliance with set standards & take procedures prescribed by law against any violation of environmental regulations;
• Propose appropriate enforcement actions in cases of non
– compliance;
• Advise on correct means of storage, collection & disposal of any discarded wastes;
• Conduct public investigations on environmental pollution, & degradation of natural resources;
• Collect samples from waters, Air, & soil for field & laboratory analyses to determine environmental quality & compliance;
• Monitor activities pertaining to the installation or construction of pollution source & control facilities to ensure compliance with the National Emission Standards for Source Specific Air Pollutants, National Ambient Air Quality, effluent discharge Standards & report monitoring results.
Job Profile
Qualifications:
A0 in Environmental Sciences, Ecology, Biology, Chemistry, Rural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geography Development Studies.
Key Technical Skills & Knowledge required:
– Negotiation & influencing skills
– Planning and organisation skills
– Communication, reporting and writing skills
– Interpersonal and team working skills
– Spoken and written English and Swahili skills
– Understanding Rwanda?s environment system
– knowldge in international standards of environment.
District and Community Support Officer AT RWANDA ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY : ( Deadline : 30 October 2019 )
Job Description
1. Provide support to decentralised entities and communities to integrate environment and climate change into development programmes:
– Initiate and coordinate projects to support local community activities in environmental management
– Assist Districts and other decentralised entities in the development and implementation of environmental action plans & strategies
–
– Assist Districts in integrating environment and climate change in District Development Plans
– Conduct regular capacity needs assessment for decentralized institution and participate in the design and development of capacity building plans for these institutions
– Develop and update strategies and criteria for REMA support to decentralized institutions, local communities organizations and other civil society organization
– Initiate and coordinate activities that support central and decentralized institutions, communities and civil society to address environmental issues.
– Interface with local government leaders to increase environmental awareness and understanding 2. Conduct outreach programmes for decentralised entities and the community
– Plan, implement and direct community support and outreach programmes
– Map stakeholders, develop and maintain a data base of NGOs working in environment and establish a collaborative framework between REMA and the civil society
Job Profile
