Job description

-Reporting to the Division Manager for Animal Resources Processing & Biotechnology, the Animal Processing Assistant Research Fellow will have the following responsibilities:
-Prepare research proposals in the field of Animal Products Processing aimed at solving community problems and attract internal and external funding for research
-Conduct research in Animal Products Processing in accordance to the existing work plan and available resources.
-Publish research results at national, regional and international levels.
-Ccollaborate with other researchers in their regular activities namely collection of raw materials, laboratory work and in writing reports and publications;
-Enhance the institutional visibility in national, regional and international forums through active participation in meetings, seminars and conferences relevant to field of research
-Disseminate research findings in the field of Animal Products Processing to relevant stakeholders through various and appropriate communication pathways.
-Maintain and update the data/records of the national animal products value chains pertaining to value addition and reduction of post-harvest losses
-Develop and/or update existing guidelines for animal products processing and reduction of post-harvest losses.
-Organize capacity building activities for animal products value chain actors related to value addition and reduction of post-harvest losses
-Prepare reports on the conducted activities as per the required frequency.
-Assure the proper utilization of institutional resources and safeguard of assets as far as his/her portfolio is concerned.
-Perform any other duty as required by the competent authorities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Food Sciences

  • Master’s Degree in Food Technology

    Experience: 0

  • Masters Degree in Food Biotechnology

    Experience: 0

  • Proven experience to work with farmers and industry stakeholders in research and extension

  • Capacity in project development and resource Mobilization
