And we are always looking to expand and, jointly with our partners, offer lasting impact with and for the communities we serve! ALIGHT is looking for a qualified, self-driven and committed individual to join its roster/register as Temporary Laboratory Technician (on-call), and who would be available at short notice to support health service delivery and programming at any one of the field sites (refugee camps) where ALIGHT has active health operations.

 PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Based at the refugee campsite level, the Lab Technician is responsible for the examination of and maintenance of laboratory materials and samples ensuring accurate results for patients.  He/she will liaise with the Health and HIV/AIDS teams to ensure adequate health services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Conduct laboratory exams according to the Rwandan Ministry of Health protocols and guidelines
  • Verify and maintain all laboratory materials and equipment ensuring good condition
  • Maintain client confidentiality at all times
  • Record all lab results in their corresponding register
  • Provide timely lab results sheets to different Health Center services
  • Monitor and provide routine maintenance to ensure the hygiene of all laboratory materials and equipment
  • Bring sputum of multi-resistant TB cases to National Reference Laboratory,
  • Bring to “National transfusion center” samples of incompatible rhesus for Combs Test and if necessary buy and bring Gamma Globulin substance
  • Ensure proper storage and maintenance of cold-chain
  • Bring samples for CD4 and viral load, count and RPR to Hospital Laboratory
  • Take quality control samples to District Hospital on a monthly basis
  • Take blood samples, urines samples, stool, sputum according to lab exams prescriber and guideline
  • Make weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports
  • To insure infection control by respecting all precautions measures in place
  • Report to HIV Program Coordinator, Head Nurse and/or the Medical Coordinator problems encountered for help
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor, or any other ALIGHT Senior Manager

 EDUCATION, TECHNICAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • A1 Diploma in laboratory sciences or another health-related field from a recognized university required
  • 2 years’ working experience in a human laboratory in a low-resource, fast-paced setting, working with vulnerable/displaced persons
  • Analytical and organizational skills/experience with health data.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Health Information Systems, HIV protocols and Rwandan Ministry of Health protocols and guidelines
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills
  • Computer knowledge is an advantage
  • Good oral/writing skills in Kinyarwanda and English or French
  • Experience working in protracted refugee situation and/or previous experience in Rwanda

 PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Medical Doctor will be responsible for the delivery of quality health services including consultations, diagnosis, and treatment of clients in accordance with the MoH protocols. He/she will be responsible to provide technical assistance and build the capacity of the health facility staff to improve the quality of health service delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Plans and provides primary health care services to beneficiaries, including consultations, diagnosis, writing prescriptions, care plans, and minor surgery
  • Technically supports health activities including curative, preventive, and community health
  • Ensures health facilities adhere to national and international health standards, specifically from the Ministry of Health and WHO, supported by the Health Coordinator
  • Oversee the management of non-communicable diseases
  • Collaborate with Head Nurse, HIV/AIDS Coordinator, and Nutrition Coordinator for planning and implementing primary health services
  • Provides technical support for health education activities in the clinic and during outreach sessions
  • Collaborates with Health Coordinator and other coordinators in developing standards and procedures for the Medical Staff and in monitoring the continuity of Medical activities
  • Maintains standards of confidentiality and patient privacy in maintaining credential files and the electronic medical database
  • Promote environmental sanitation activities within the health facilities to minimize environmental health hazards
  • Provide technical support to Nurses and Lab Technicians through regular meetings, mentorship, and organizing on the job training for technical health facility staff
  • Establish strategies for efficient health activities and its application
  • Participate in reporting and analyzing monthly, quarterly and annual reports, including stock reports on pharmaceuticals and HIS data
  • Maintains appropriate records in collaboration with the Pharmacist on a weekly/monthly/quarterly basis. Regularly follows up the clinic requirement of all drugs, medical and non-medical supplies
  • Supervise immunization and other clinic sessions organized at the health center
  • Assist Midwives during antenatal, delivery, postnatal care and family planning services
  • Diagnose, treat and prescribe drugs using MoH treatment guidelines and common childhood illnesses using IMCI protocols
  • Assess children with severe malnutrition with specification and refer accordingly
  • Treatment and early referral of medical, surgical and obstetric emergencies
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor, or any other ALIGHT Senior Manager.

EDUCATION, TECHNICAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Medical Doctor from a recognized university with full registration and current practicing license with a relevant professional body (Rwanda Medical Council)
  • A minimum of 2 years) clinical working experience in Rwanda health system
  • Experience in capacity building of health staff with good leadership qualities
  • Commitment to the goals and values of ALIGHT
  • Analytical and organizational skills/experience with health data
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Health Information Systems, Nutrition protocols, HIV protocols, and Primary and Reproductive Health Care concepts, including Rwandan Ministry of Health protocols and guidelines

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The primary responsibility is providing nursing care to patients by administering medications, observing and monitoring patients’ conditions, maintaining records, and consultations, support and communication with Alight Medical Doctors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Interview patients to obtain information that guide diagnosis, including a physical examination of the patient while in consultation;
  • Write all lab exams and findings in patient file and in register books
  • Prescribe treatment for the patient consulted with extra attention on doses and side effects;
  • Perform PIT when it is necessary, and report all HIV-positive cases to HIV Program. Also ensure FP is fully integrated in consultation
  • Maintain medical materials and equipment undercharge
  • Coordinate with other health staff on self-assessment of clinical skills and challenges
  • Follow up on patients that s/he has consulted and is hospitalized
  • Organize, complete, and manage patient data files according to confidentiality/organizational health programming protocols
  • Provide information to each patient details his/her conditions, medications and health education;
  • Perform required recordkeeping procedures when registering patients according to health center protocol

REQUIRED SKILLS, BEHAVIORS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum A1 Diploma in Nursing from a recognized university with full registration and current practicing license from Rwanda Medical Council
  • Minimum of two years previous experience in Nursing with a high level of skills in Clinical Services
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Health Information Systems, Nutrition, and HIV protocols, and Primary and Reproductive Health Care concepts, informed by Rwanda’s Ministry of Health protocols and guidelines
  • Excellent report writing, communication skills, and analytical skills for Health Data;
  • Capable communicator in English and Kinyarwanda; including written; also, conversance with French;
  • Self-motivated and customer-oriented with a strong sense of personal ethic, integrity and quality
