The WTO is seeking to fill a temporary position of Finance Specialist to work in the Administration and General Services Division. This is a 6-month temporary contract.
General Functions
Under the supervision of Head of Financial Operations, the incumbent’s duties will include the following areas of work:
ACCOUNTS PAYABLE
Process accounting and financial transactions in compliance with approved procedures and regulations.
Create Vendors and monitor the Vendor Database for the P2P (Procurement to Pay Business Cycle and in the Swissbankers Platform), ensuring compliance and integrity of data.
Process bank payments for TA activities (advances and final hotel invoices, payment to universities, catering, transport, insurance for RTPCs, etc.)., staff reimbursements and benefits (education grants, and travel claims).
Disburse Daily Subsistence Allowance (DSA) to external beneficiaries through digital platforms (Western Union/ Swissbankers).
GENERAL LEDGER
Perform reconciliations (banks, accounts, visa cards, VAT among others) and perform required correction to ensure a timely balance of the related Accounts in the General Ledger Module.
Back up functions to Support other members of the Section in business process, especially in producing and developing accurate reports to simplify processes and monitoring US Taxes status of payment.
Update financial parameters (UN exchange rates) into the financial module of WTO’s ERP system on a regular basis.
Support the Year End Closure and Audit Queries in the area of Accounts Payables and General Ledger.
Ensure compliance with the archiving policy related to accounting and financial documents.
Performs any other related tasks as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Completion of secondary education. Post-secondary training/certificate in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources or related fields will be an asset.
Knowledge and Skills:
Accounting/financial management skills.
Knowledge in MS Office and especially in Excel.
Basic ERP software skills; experience with Oracle EBS an advantage.
Analytical skills to produce accurate and clear financial reporting.
Communication skills to transmit financial information
Confidentiality skills to ensure that information is accessible only to those authorized to have access.
The following interpersonal capabilities are required: work as a member of a team, relating to others, while working independently to achieve his/her objectives; relate to and build relationships with colleagues; and communicate information in a clear and client oriented way and understand information.
Work Experience:
Minimum of three-four years’ relevant working experience in business administration and/or finance.
Languages:
Fluency in French or English, and adequate level in the other language is required.
