Job description
The Civil Peace Service (CPS) is a programme aimed at preventing violence and promoting peace in crisis zones and conflict regions. It strives to build a world in which conflicts are resolved without resorting to violence. Nine German peace and development organisations run the CPS in cooperation with local partners. CPS experts support people on the ground in their commitment for dialogue, human rights and peace on a long-term basis. Currently, more than 350 international CPS experts are active in 45 countries. The CPS Programme in the Great Lakes region is working with 11 Partner Organisations in Rwanda, Burundi and the Eastern Democratic Republic (D.R.) Congo. The CPS supports them in the use of dialogue to address differences in a constructive way, manage existing social conflicts and reflect on how past experiences of violence and sexual and gender-based violence are dealt with. Thereby adolescents and young adults shall be aware of the risks of gender-based and ethnic stereotypes and prejudices, their potential for manipulation as well as their influence on social cohesion.
Your tasks
- In close coordination with the Coordinator of the programme, continuous conceptual development of the PM&E system of the CPS Regional Programme Rwanda, Burundi, Eastern D.R. Congo
- Technical support to CPS partner organisations in the practical implementation of the PM&E system, e.g. by conducting trainings and workshops as well as partner and project visits
- In cooperation with other CPS experts, continuous monitoring of processes and results of cooperation with partner organisations related to the impact of the CPS programme
- Presentation of the aggregated outomes, regular reports to the programme team and partners
- Support the Coordinator with the annual reports of the CPS Rwanda, Burundi, Eastern D.R. Congo programme
- Continuous development of the CPS Regional Programme Rwanda, Burundi, Eastern D.R. Congo, its processes and structures in close coordination with the Coordinator and the programme team
- Active participation in the global GIZ CPS PM&E Focal Persons group
Your profile
- University qualification (Master’s degree or equivalent) in social sciences, regional studies, peace and conflict studies, political science or other relevant studies
- Several years of practical professional experience in project management and/or monitoring und evaluation
- Very good knowledge of research methods (data collection and analysis)
- Work-related experience abroad, preferably in a post-conflict context
- Very good knowledge of MS Office applications, especially Excel and MS Teams
- Willingness for regular duty trips in the region
- Business fluent in French, English and German
