Job responsibilities

– Develop and implement community mobilization strategies that foster participation in forestry, landscape restoration and sustainable land management for climate resilience and livelihood improvement; – Facilitate dialogues to understand community needs, challenges, and traditional knowledge related to forest resources management; – Facilitate participatory planning processes that integrate community perspectives into forestry and landscape restoration action plans and implementation; – Organize community engagement campaigns, meetings, and workshops to raise awareness on forest restoration, Climate resilience, and sustainable livelihoods; – Support the establishment and/or strengthening of community-based groups, including cooperatives, saving groups, and local committees to ensure effective participation and sustainability of RFA project outcomes; – Provide training and capacity building to community members on sustainable land-use practices, restoration techniques, biodiversity conservation approaches, and integrating climate risks into land-use planning; – Facilitate training on community livelihood improvement mechanisms, including Forest/Agroforestry value chain development, financial literacy, Market System Development, and strategies for sustainable alternative income generation; – Ensure the inclusion of gender, youth, people with disabilities, and vulnerable groups in all community engagement activities, and facilitate the adherence to environmental and social safeguarding principles as well as project Gender Action Plans; – Serve as a liaison between RFA, local leaders, key stakeholders, and the community to foster collaboration, build synergies, align with community priorities, and enhance the success of RFA projects; – In collaboration with the Communication and Outreach Specialist, develop culturally appropriate communication materials for outreach, and ensure consistent communication and collaboration with communities, project teams and external partners; – In collaboration with the Legal Specialist, mediate conflicts related to land-use and project activities, while promoting equitable solutions for all parties; – In collaboration with the M&E and technical team, develop a monitoring tool to measure the efficiency of community engagement and associated livelihood improvement in accordance with performance indicators of RFA projects; – In collaboration with the M&E Specialist, monitor and document community engagement processes, best practices, lessons learned, and success stories; – Using community-based surveys, interviews, focus group discussions and other standard methods, obtain data on community participation and feedback; – Contribute to project reporting, by preparing progress reports, field visit notes, and case studies on community mobilization; – To perform any other duties as assigned by the competent authority. – NB: NB: – For applicants with a Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant working experience in community mobilization is required, preferably in Forestry or Agroforestry extension services. – For applicants with a Master’s degree, a minimum of four (4) years of relevant working experience in community mobilization is required, preferably in Forestry or Agroforestry extension services.
