Curtin University 2022 HDR Scholarship – PhD Scholarship: (Deadline Ongoing)

Young people are drinking less than ever. But we don’t know whether this continues over the life-course. This ARC-funded scholarship will help identify ways to ensure that recent declines in adolescent drinking are maintained and reinforced as these young people age. It will generate new knowledge on the trajectories of youth drinking into young adulthood, changing risk and protective factors for alcohol problems and will help develop new and effective harm prevention policies and interventions. The project focuses on young people in Australia, Sweden and the UK and will involve significant collaboration with key international research teams and likely international travel.

The PhD candidate will join the growing Melbourne office of the National Drug Research Institute and will tackle key components of the overall project, including for example, the relationship between health inequalities and drinking trends.
