Applications for ICWA Fellowships are open for the year 2020. The Institute of World Current Affairs is looking for candidates with promise, curiosity, and enthusiasm who are ready for the rapid personal growth to apply for this Fully-funded ICWA Fellowships 2020 in the United States. The fellows will work on developing advanced knowledge and professional skills and do not need to have extensive professional experience in the proposed area. Strong candidates generally propose compelling fellowship topics.
Purpose
ICWA fellowship is a writing fellowship position. Fellows are liable to make monthly dispatches on the official website of the organization and email to institute supporters and other interested parties, including family, friends and professional associates of the fellows. Moreover, fellows work closely with the executive director, who serves as a writing coach, editor, and mentor.
While many fellows go on to pursue political or social causes at home and abroad, the purpose of a fellowship is to learn about other societies, not to change them. The institute does not accept any government funds and fellows must preserve that independence in letter and in spirit. The Institute of World Current affairs prohibits the engagement of fellows in overtly political activities during their fellowships.
Requirements
- Applicants must be under 36 years of age at the time of the application.
- The position is open to all nationalities but candidates must be able to demonstrate strong and credible ties to U.S. society.
- ICWA expects candidates to have sufficient language skills to carry out their proposed projects. Moreover, this means enough language proficiency for candidates to be able to function in the local language within a few months of arriving in-country.
- Applicants must have excellent written and spoken English-language skills.
- Furthermore, candidates must be graduate as ICWA does not accept applications from currently enrolled undergraduate students.
Funding/Compensation
ICWA provides full financial support for its fellows and their immediate, accompanying families. Fellows do not receive salaries but the institute gives them sufficient funding to cover their expenses, enabling them to fulfill the purposes of the fellowship and allowing them and their families (if accompanying the fellowship) to live in good health and reasonable comfort.
The Institute of Current World Affairs provides full financial support for its fellows; as well as to the immediate, accompanying families of fellows. The institute provides them sufficient funding to cover their expenses. In addition to that, fellows will also receive funds to fulfill the purposes of the fellowship; and also grants enough for them and their families to live comfortably and healthy.
