Aim and Benefits of Heinrich Böll Foundation Scholarships to Graduates, and Doctoral International Students
Again, the level of funding is different for all three groups of students.
1. For Undergraduate and Masters Scholarships Benefits:
A.) For German/Non-German students:
For German/Non-German students who have been educated in Germany before:
- Will be different for every individual based on their level of income or parent’s income.
- The maximum amount will be Euro 649 plus 300 Euros for books every month.
B). For EU Students:
For European Union Students who have NOT been educated in Germany:
- Will be different for every individual based on their level of income or parent’s income.
- The maximum amount will be Euro 649 plus 300 Euros for books every month.
C.) For Non-EU Students:
For Students who are NOT EU nationals and have not been educated in Germany:
- Euro 850 every month plus other different allowances.
2. For Doctorate Degree Benefits:
Scholarship Funding covers:
- For German/Non-German students who have been educated in Germany before: Euro1350 every month and Euro100 research allowance every month
- For European Union Students who have NOT been educated in Germany:
- Euro1350 every month and Euro 100 research allowance every month
- For Students who are NOT EU nationals and have not been educated in Germany: Euro1200 every month and Euro100 research allowance every month
- Other different allowances

Requirements for Heinrich Böll Foundation Scholarships to Graduates, and Doctoral International Students Qualification
International applicants have to prove their proficiency in German. Good or very good knowledge of the German language is required (at least B2 Level or DSH2).
Since the scholarship is offered to many different groups of students the eligibility criteria for each are different.
1. For Undergraduate and Masters Scholarships Criteria:
A.) For German/Non-German students:
For German/Non-German students who have been educated in Germany before:
- Applicants can only apply for this scholarship for their First degree i.e. Bachelors.
B.) For EU Students:
For European Union Students who have NOT been educated in Germany:
- Applicants can apply only for Master’s degree.
- Applicants must have proof of their Bachelor’s degree.
- Applicants must have proof of their proficiency in German language (Level B2 or DSH2)
C). For Non-EU Students:
Students who are NOT EU nationals and have not been educated in Germany:
- Applicants can apply for a Master’s degree only.
- Applicants must have proof of their Bachelor’s degree.
- Applicants must have proof of their proficiency in the German language (Level B2 or DSH2).
2. For Doctorate Degree Criteria:
For All Students:
- Applicants will have to provide proof that they have been accepted into a doctorate.
- level program at a German or state-recognized university.
- Applicants who are not German will have to prove their proficiency in the German language.

We expect applicants and future scholarship holders to support the goals of the foundation and to actively work for a just, democratic and ecological world. We expect scholarship holders to assume social responsibility and think outside the box. We see a scholarship not only as recognition of good work done in the past, but even more as an expression of high expectations of our scholarship holders to pursue their studies in a goal-oriented manner, to complete them successfully and to continue to be socially involved in the future . Examples of social commitment can be: Management of international youth camps, work in a sports club, commitment to the Green Youth, school representative, work in NGOs, e.g
The Henrich Böll Foundation is a political foundation; we expect our scholarship holders to be interested in political events and political education.
