ECD Officer

 

ECD Officer will be in charge of leading the design of the pre-primary teacher training plan for School Readiness in Rwanda, to sensitize key stakeholders at District or sector/Cell levels about early learning and the Emergent Literacy and Math Initiative. Under the guidance of the SC Rwanda accountability focal person, he/she will support established accountability and complaints handling mechanisms and he/she will sensitize key stakeholders at District, sector and cell levels in advancing school readiness in Rwanda.

 

The overall role of the ECD Officer is to implement and monitor the Advancing School Readiness in Rwanda project in Ngororero District.

 

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal job description and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

 

Qualifications and experience

 

University degree in education, Communication or social sciences;
Experience working with NGOs;
Good knowledge of principles and practice of Early Childhood Development, experience working in the ECD field preferred;
Ability to develop constructive relationships with a wide range of partners, including children, communities and local authorities;
Proven ability to deliver projects in line with proposals, budgets and timelines;
Experience of facilitating participatory planning and monitoring;
Strong analytical skills and creativity;
Ability to self-manage and to work effectively with very limited supervision (willingness to work alone in a Sector without office back up support);
Willingness to be self-sufficient with regard to transport;
Ability to communicate effectively in Kinyarwanda and English: Orally and in writing
Possession of a motorcycle license is added advantage ;
Ability to communicate effectively in French: orally and in writing;
Previous experience/exposure to emergent literacy and math concepts and practices;
Contract length: Open Ended
