Introduction
Bohoka Employment Initiative is an NGO that advocates for vulnerable women through a trauma-informed and holistic approach to job training. Bohoka equips women with both employable skills and mental health resilience in order to break the cycle of material poverty and find freedom from the poverty mindset. Our program is rooted in trauma-informed approaches to job training and employment advocacy in the context of a supportive community.
We are seeking a Project Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will share the vision of Bohoka and bring expertise and innovation to the organization. We are looking for someone who can lead and oversee all aspects of in-country programming in coordination with the Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Healing Groups for participants (after completing the course to become a Certified Healing Group Coordinator)
- Oversee and manage skills-training program
- Establish partnership(s) to provide ongoing business/entrepreneurship training
- Build rapport with local businesses, organizations, and churches to appropriately facilitate employment opportunities and funding for women in Bohoka
- Oversee organizational documentation, project plans, budgets, and schedules as directed by the Executive Director
- Execute a variety of administrative tasks such as billing and bookkeeping
- Monitor project progress in order to create project status reports for stakeholders
- Advocate for trauma-informed workplace education and mental health awareness
Qualifications and Personal Skills
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or comparable level of professional experience
- 2+ years of related work experience, preferably in leadership roles; experience working in a non-governmental organization (NGO) or social enterprise
- Expertise related to mental health services, poverty alleviation, and/or business/entrepreneurship training
- Strong oral and written communication skills in Kinyarwanda and English
- Ability to build positive working relationships with community leaders and government officials.
- Ability to analyze and establish effective program coordination, procedures, systems
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team, reach desired outcomes, and adhere to deadlines
- Proficiency in basic computer programs and applications
- Basic bookkeeping skills
