Job Summary
Kepler is looking for a competent student/graduate to serve as a Refugee College Counselor Fellow at the Kepler Kigali Campus. This is a full-time position that will last one year with the possibility of extension. The Kigali’s Refugee College Counselor Fellow’s role will be to support students with educational guidance, to create programs to help refugee students to excel in academics, to assist the humanitarian team at Kepler in implementing initiatives for the successful education of refugee students at our campus in Kigali, and to support the careers staff in supporting refugee students.
The Fellows positions at Kepler are designed as an opportunity for recent or upcoming graduates to grow professionally by gaining meaningful work experience while supporting Kepler programming. Fellows will be provided with significant support from their managers and other team members as well as opportunities for professional development. After the fellowship year is complete, Fellows should be confident professionals with competitive skills and resumes to continue their careers, whether at Kepler or an external organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide educational guidance for students in the program; explain the model and be there as a sounding board and student advocate
- Help students problem-solve when they encounter challenges and make referrals to other staffs or services as needed
- Conduct one on one advising sessions, small groups and scholarship workshops with students
- Collaborate with Kepler academic advisors and other departments to support students to recognize and achieve their educational goals
- Maintain accurate and updated records of students’ progress and challenges
- Discuss links between education and employment opportunities with students
- Assist students in setting employment goals-both for internships and post-graduation
- Prepare monthly reports that include data, a narrative history of student success, and development phases, recommendations for program improvement, and partner/student success.
- Work on the diversity, equity and inclusion issues in the Kepler community
- Work on issues related to transitions to workplace for students and graduates
- Participate in the Humanitarian Team meetings
- Participate in meetings with partners for advocating for refugees’ access to tertiary education
- Represent Kepler at external events and advocating for refugee rights and opportunities
- Take responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications, skills and experience needed:
- Have earned more than 90 competencies in BA and in good academic standing (must be maintained throughout the job)
- Experience with working with refugee students either in internships or work-study positions
- Ability to use online conferencing tools
- Organized, Extreme attention to detail, and good at time and task management
- Excellent with using Google Products (creating and uploading files and folders, sharing files folders, google forms, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and highly adaptable technology skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of refugee rights, laws, and methods of advocacy

Job Summary
Kepler is hiring an Iteme Fellow to support the implementation of our unique tertiary education and career preparation program for secondary school graduates from refugee and host communities. The Fellow will be in charge of a specific Iteme site and manage the academic, administrative and logistical aspects. The Fellow will supervise Iteme interns, assess the curriculum & classes, control logistics, implement innovative ways to support Iteme students, liaise with partners, and other related duties on-site.
The Fellow will work closely with the Kepler Humanitarian Team. The Fellows positions at Kepler are designed as an opportunity for recent or upcoming graduates to grow professionally by gaining meaningful work experience while supporting Kepler programming. Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead assigned Iteme site
- Hire, train, and supervise interns
- Build and strengthen our partnerships with on-site organizations/programs
- Assess the curriculum, ensuring all class materials are available and easily accessible to both students and interns
- Observe classes to ensure students are getting needed support with tablets/class resources
- Provide feedback and coaching to interns, including co-teaching when needed
- Implement the evaluation method and provide feedback to improve the program
- Innovate new ways of supporting Iteme students, including engaging relevant community members
- Conduct field research to identify opportunities available for refugees and marginalized youth
- Prepare and oversee Iteme admissions at assigned site
- Produce accurate and timely reports
- Collect and organize data effectively
- Develop a budget and operating plan for the program in collaboration with the Preparation Programs Manager and finance team
- Coordinate and run workshops/events (internal and external)
- Manage tablets and other resources
- Take full responsibility and ownership of the program at your site
- Run the program remotely if needed: Provide adequate support to both interns and students, make sure that resources are easily accessible to students, and conduct frequent check-ins with interns
- Collect and report accurate finance documents on time
- Complete other tasks assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications, skills and experience needed:
- Have met all graduation requirements
- Ability to communicate in Kinyarwanda and fluent in English
- Ability to effectively lead a team
- Experience with operational activities
- Have worked as an Iteme/ remediation program intern or Kepler TA
- Demonstrated professionalism and good working ethics
- Ability to work under pressure and tackle challenges without any supervision
- Organized, Extreme attention to detail, and good at time and task management
- Excellent with using Google Products (creating and uploading files and folders, sharing files folders, google forms, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and highly adaptable technology skills
- Comfortable living and working in a rural area

About the Role
The Education Collaborative of the Ashesi University in partnership with Kepler has initiated an innovative program to support higher education institutions in Africa to bring sustainable and impactful outcomes through system level changes. The outcomes have been divided into different tracks and the employability track has been chosen to be rolled this year. Through the employability track, Kepler will be leading the support program for three higher education institutions in the region. The program focuses on impacting employment outcomes by supporting their initiatives on transforming their students’ career support programs through system level changes.
The Program Assistant will be in charge of helping Kepler to develop and execute the program and ensure smooth day today operation of the program. The role includes providing administrative support to different SCP teams throughout the planning and implementation stages of the program, coordinating the communication between program participants and managerial staff, creating and updating program schedules and assisting in the planning and managing program events.
This position has non-traditional work hours that may require starting work early or finishing work late. The position is equivalent to 45 work hours/week with some fluctuation throughout 15-months.
Reports to: Program Manager
Job Responsibilities
- Coordinate the communication between the program participants, mentors and the Kepler team. For example, maintaining program calendars and sending out reminders of impending appointments.
- Plan and coordinate program meetings and ensure that all the meeting outcome are clearly documented and next steps are followed.
- Collaborate with the program manager and coordinator to document program reports, and other essential communication as it may be required from time to time.
- Support the team in making reservations for site visits, and travel requirements and any other travel needs.
- Manage fund requests and transfers, expense accounting, and reporting from participating institutions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, human resource management, public relations, communications. or related fields.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in leading projects and university or business/industry environment involving career and employment issues, sales/marketing, or other business development functions.
- Highly organized in both time and in resources; need to manage progress reports, timetables, and financial budgets.
- Has interpersonal skills for collaborating effectively with others and displays the ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal formats.
- Possesses functional knowledge and/or personal experience with technology: Microsoft Suite, Google Drive, Google Chrome.
- Thrives in a dynamic environment and believes that change leads to progress.

Social Media Manager

About the Position
We are looking for a dynamic Social Media Manager to manage our multiple social media platforms and fulfil other key communications functions. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the Social Media Manager will work to align with the Kepler culture and values.
An ideal candidate has worked in multicounty NGOs or higher learning institutions and has at least three years’ experience in social media management.

Job Responsibilities
- With the Chief of Staff and Director of External Relations, set annual goals for the Communications department and implement key elements of the communications strategy on all social media platforms for our Kepler programs in Rwanda and Ethiopia
- Draft and implement an organizational social media strategy, developing brand awareness, generating inbound traffic and increasing engagement
- Oversee day-to-day management of Kepler platforms and campaigns and ensure consistency
- Together with the communications team, oversee the creating and implementation of the monthly editorial calendar
- Create and publish compelling and captivating audio-visual content managing
- Support the regular drafting of blogs and other content
- Supervise all aspects of social media interaction between Kepler and its online communities
- Set and track metrics around growth of Kepler social media account numbers and engagement
- Maintain relationships with user communities and existing stakeholders on multiple platforms
- Report on the process of applying various social media tactics using a variety of digital analytics and media tracking tools
- Collaborate with academic and career services teams to support their respective missions, ensuring consistency in voice and cultivating an engaged social media community
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, journalism, public relations or related; Experience in lieu of degree can be considered
- A minimum of three years of demonstrable professional experience in social media management and tracking
- Proficient using multi-social posting programs such as Hootsuite
- Proficient using Google Analytics
- Proficiency with Adobe Suite is an asset
- Experience in the education sector or non-profit organization is an asset;
- Fluent in English and Kinyarwanda; French is an asset
- Experience managing staff, interns, and volunteers
- Ability to take initiative, work well under pressure, and carry out work independently
- Team player and proven self-starter, able to work under minimal supervision
- Cross-cultural communication skills
